4 Minute Read:
Becoming a grandmother is one of the most rewarding events of a woman’s life.
We’ve all seen how families and roles have changed over the years, but so has something else; our bodies and faces!
If you are a grandmother, why not celebrate yourself and this milestone by addressing various cosmetic concerns you may have about your body or face?
Mommy Makeovers After 50
A comprehensive makeover to tighten, lift, slim, and enhance the body called a Mommy Makeover has become popular among women who have completed their families or do not plan to become pregnant again.
Mommy Makeovers are a great way to restore a woman’s body and her confidence. This typically refers to a combination of body contouring and breast-enhancing procedures that include two or more of the following services:
These cosmetic body and breast surgeries can be performed together for a slimmer, smoother, shapelier, and more voluptuous figure.
Another procedure to consider when receiving a body makeover in your 50s or 60s is an arm lift (brachioplasty), as loose upper arm skin with pockets of stubborn fat is common at this age.
Facial Rejuvenation After 50
While our bodies undergo many changes as we grow older, it’s often easy to conceal them under clothes.
On the other hand, the aging face and neck are harder to hide.
If you are considering having cosmetic surgery on your face to correct wrinkles, sagging skin, volume loss, droopy eyelids, or loose neck skin, consider these procedures:
Eyebrow lift (forehead lift)
These cosmetic facial surgeries can be performed alone or together to tighten skin, erase wrinkles, and add volume for a dramatically younger-looking appearance.
Combining Body, Breast, and Facial Cosmetic Surgery
While a reputable, board-certified cosmetic surgeon can perform breast and body surgeries at the same time, they won’t combine any of these procedures with facial surgeries. However, you can have more than one facial procedure performed together.
Just keep in mind that if you want to address both your body and face, you’ll require a separate operation to be scheduled after fully recovering from the first.
Is a Cosmetic Surgery Makeover Right for You?
Good candidates for a comprehensive cosmetic surgery makeover want to address cosmetic concerns about their body or face.
They should also be in good overall health, aren’t required to take daily blood thinning medications, and don’t smoke or use nicotine products of any kind.
If this sounds like you, a grandmother makeover might be your best solution.
Recovering From Comprehensive Cosmetic Surgery
If you choose to proceed with your makeover, you can expect some significant downtime. General anesthesia is administered before the procedures begin, so you will not feel any discomfort during surgery.
However, due to the side effects of the anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you home and ideally spend the first 24 hours of recovery with you.
Recovery Tips:
If you work, plan to take about two weeks off to rest and allow your body to heal.
Prepare your recovery space with soft pillows, long charging cords, and anything you need within arm’s reach.
Have comfortable button-down clothing to wear.
Pre-cook meals to cover up to seven days of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Follow all your surgeon’s instructions and avoid taking aspirin, NSAIDs, or supplements that may thin your blood.
Pain medication will be prescribed before your surgery. Fill this prescription ahead of time so you can have it ready at home.
You may need to wear compression garments for up to six weeks. These special dressings help minimize swelling and encourage proper healing.
Avoid all strenuous exercise or activities until cleared by your surgeon to resume.
